About
Hi there, this is your friendly neighborhood bipedal human ape, Asko Nõmm. I’m a senior software engineer & systems architect based out of Tallinn, Estonia.
Origins
I started out in the trenches of mid 2000s where I spent a lot of free time in public libraries as a hobbyist webpage maker, wielding uppercased HTML (why was this ever a thing?) and exorcising demons to get browsers to render my creations in the same way in a time where cross-browser compatibility was something you spent most of your time doing. There was no CSS3, and there were no front-end frameworks.
Fast forward to early 2010s where I became an adult and got my first job, the world was held up by jQuery and WordPress. Well, it still seems to be, unfortunately. The amount of jQuery and WordPress I wrestled in the 2010s still gives me PTSD to this day. It was a time of emerging web standards and slop before slop was a term we used to describe software held up by thin promises and wishful thinking.
Fortunately at some point in the late 2010s I moved to Barcelona and got a job writing a strange programming language called Clojure, which turned my career trajectory upside down downside up, allowing me to cash in on a lot more cash, and get hired doing more challenging work than I previously thought I could only dream of doing.
From thereonafter I started leveling up as a competent engineer with a much improved speed, and had the privilege of working with really talented and smart people at GreenPowerMonitor, Multiply and IPRally among others. All of whom were instrumental in making me a better engineer, both technically and as a communicator. To you all; thank you.
Present
Today I’m a Senior Software Engineer at CodeScene where I help build AI tooling such as autonomous AI agents and MCP’s that uplift unhealthy code and help maintain high quality and predictable outcomes so that engineers could focus on what really matters - systems thinking, architecture, and ultimately, shipping.
